Many manufacturers entered the folding product market, so in the end it feels like there are a lot of options. Foldables aren’t cheap yet, we’re still a few years away, but there’s competition, which helps drive down prices and smooth out the rough edges of early models.
Honor announced the start of global rollout of Magic Vs at MWC, Oppo Find N2 Flip went global in February, Tecno unveiled its first foldable, the Phantom V Fold, OnePlus confirmed it’s working on a foldable, Realme teases it. own project, Google will finally stop delaying the release of the Pixel Fold, and so on. Of course, there are also eternal rumors about Apple folding.
Although Samsung still dominates the market, things are starting to change. There is competition even now and it will heat up significantly before the end of 2023.
Has any phone hit the right price at the right price to get you to try the new format? And if you already bought a folding one, how did it go? Vote below or using this page.
In the previous poll, we lumped all the foldables together, but we suspect most of you are only interested in one form factor – horizontal or vertical? Most manufacturers focused on larger horizontal phones like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, Honor Magic Vs, Oppo Find N2, Tecno Phantom V Fold, vivo X Fold+ and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 (and also Huawei phones).
Flips are still quite rare, although the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Motorola Razr 2022 are no longer alone. There’s the Find N2 Flip, and vivo and OnePlus are reportedly working on a vertical foldable alongside the horizontal ones. It’s not clear which direction Realme will go, but Samsung is sure to release one of them.
Note that Apple’s first foldable device is said to be a tablet and not a phone. This market is relatively unexplored, unless you count foldable laptops like the ThinkPad and Zenbook (but even then, such devices are rare).
So, which form factor do you prefer? Assuming, of course, that you voted yes in the poll above. Vote below or using this page.
