Two local high school golfers are packing up their clubs and heading to North Carolina.
The boys, St. Patrick’s Will Notle and Biloxi High’s Garner Seymour, are headed to the 4th annual NHSGA High School Golf National Invitational.
The invitation-only tournament is three days long and features more than 330 golfers from across the country.
There are less than ten men competing from Mississippi and these two will be representing the Coast.
We didn’t catch up with Notle before he headed that way, but News 25 did meet up with Seymour and his high school coach to discuss his journey. “It started at the state championship in May and I came in 3rd there individually. So, coming in third I got an invitation to play in this tournament. I started at a young age. My dad, he played at Delta State, so he got me and my brother involved at a young age and so I’ve just played my whole life and it’s crazy to think I only have one more year of high school golf.”
Biloxi High Golf Coach Brandon Laird said, “This is only my second year at Biloxi but whatever I’ve been able to do, just anywhere help that he needs, he’s grown exponentially as a player, as a kid, as a person. It’s really cool to watch him go to high school golf and now in one of the… a very big national tournament.”
Both boys will be competing from July 11th through the 13th.
