When the iPhone X arrived in 2017, Apple described it as a “gorgeous full-screen display.” However, that was not quite true. Not only did the top have a notch for the camera and sensors, but it also had a rather large bezel around the entire screen. Over the years, Apple has been working to reduce the size of the bezel, and according to a new report, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have the thinnest bezel ever — for any phone.
Famous Android leakster Ice Universe claims on Twitter that the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra, since we don’t know how Apple will brand the phone) “will break the 1.81mm bezel black border record held by the Xiaomi 13”. The Xiaomi 13 was launched in December and has a stunning 93 percent screen-to-body ratio, a metric that takes into account bezels and camera cutouts. By comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s ratio is 88 percent and the iPhone 14’s ratio is 86 percent, according to GSMArena.
According to the leak, the frame of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is about 1.55 mm, significantly thinner than the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 2.17 mm and the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s 2.42 mm.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra is expected to have a sleeker design than the rest of the iPhone 15 lineup, with a titanium body, curved edges and a smaller camera shell. It’s also likely to be the most expensive phone Apple has ever made, with a potential starting price of $1,299.
