Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus hardware flaw causing blurry photos, claims say

It’s not unusual for new smartphones to have problems and most of them are usually software problems. This, unfortunately, does not seem to be the case with the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus. The phones seem to have a faulty main lens, resulting in blurry images.

Many Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus users say they’ve noticed banana or ring-shaped blurs in images taken from the phones. Basically, some parts of the images look blurry and out of focus.

This is most noticeable on images with text, although that doesn’t mean other images are immune to the problem. If you’re not too particular about image quality, you might not notice these issues, but if you look closely, some parts of the images are definitely blurry and not as sharp as other parts.

Notebookcheck says his Galaxy S23 Plus also has this problem. Images also came out blurry in RAW mode, which allows you to access uncompressed image data directly from the sensor, leading them to conclude that it’s not a software issue.
People a SamMobile says they were able to replicate the issue on their Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus units, but only text and document images had issues.

It appears that most of the affected units were manufactured in Vietnam, which is where the bulk of Samsung phones are manufactured, but some units in India and South Korea are also experiencing the problem.

Some Galaxy S22 owners said last year that the images the phone produced were blurry at the edges, but that issue could be fixed in the settings and didn’t affect a significant number of users.

There seems to be something wrong with the 50MP primary unit lens. It is of poor quality or is slightly tilted. Samsung has yet to comment on the issue and if this turns out to be a hardware defect, affected users may have to replace the camera module. Samsung is said to be However, a big camera update is in the works for the Galaxy S23 series, so there is some hope that the issue will be fixed.
