Tech giant Asus has lifted the lid on its new officially licensed Xbox controller at CES 2023. The ROG Raikiri Pro is a tad different from existing models – as it features a built-in 1.3-inch OLED display and seems to put PC gamers first.

The screen (sized at a resolution of 128 x 40) can be programmed to show custom animations, images or text. It’s got a much more practical use as well – allowing users to view battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, microphone status and profile indicators.

Buttons at the top of the controller allow profiles to be easily swapped mid-game, and there are four programmable rear ones (including trigger locks) – just make sure you’ve got Asus’ Armory Crate installed on your PC. In addition to this is a built-in ESS DAC, plus a 3.5 mm earphone jack and mute button. It’s also got tri-mode connectivity: wireless USB-C, low-latency 2.5 GHz RF and Bluetooth 5.0 mode.

For Xbox users, it’s not clear if all of the features will be supported when using the controller on the console. Additionally, it’s mentioned how Xbox only supports the controller’s wired USB-C connection. The base model Raikiri will be made available “soon”, and the Raikiri Pro will follow at a later date.

What do you think of this controller? Any interest? Let us know in the comments.
