College football bowl projections ahead of the 2022 season, via CBS Sports

College football’s regular season is just a few weeks away from getting started, so it’s time to take a peek at one last preseason bowl projection. We are starting to glean valuable tidbits from training camp. A once-foggy picture is starting to clear regarding the outlook of some teams that could control the pulse of the 2022 campaign.

“I think you know the value I place on the quarterback position,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said at Big 12 Media Days about the Longhorns’ heated quarterback battle. “My humble opinion, it’s the most important position in sports for a lot of reasons. I think the more quality players you can have in that room for the healthy competition, to push one another, to prepare themselves for their future but also the short – term future of playing a season is vitally important. We have a unique luxury of having Hudson Card, Quinn Ewers, Maalik Murphy. Those guys are all quality players.”

A couple offseason notes as reminders — the annual Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida, has been renamed the ReliaQuest Bowl after losing its title sponsor following two decades. The game will be played on Jan. 2, and it features a team from the SEC against a Big Ten or ACC program.
