Auburn’s nonconference schedule nears completion with new addition

Auburn basketball’s nonconference schedule might be complete.

The program announced Friday it will be hosting Texas Southern on Nov. 18, possibly putting a bow on the Tigers’ nonconference opponents this fall. The meeting will be third between Auburn and Texas Southern since Bruce Pearl became head coach, and the fourth all time — all wins for the Tigers.

Texas Southern made its second straight NCAA tournament last season under coach Johnny Joneswinning in the First Four before getting blown out in the first round by eventual national champion Kansas.

Last week, Auburn also learned its SEC opponents for the 2022-23 season.

The only nonconference game yet to be announced or reported for Auburn is a road trip to the Appalachian State, which is part of a home-away-home series agreed upon by the schools in 2020.

The Tigers’ known nonconference matchups are as follows:

• Nov. 7 vs. George Mason (season opener)

• N0v. 11 vs. USF

• Nov. 15 vs. Winthrop

• Nov. 18 vs. Texas Southern

• Nov. 22 vs. Bradley (Cancun Challenge)

• Nov. 23 vs. Northwestern/Liberty (Cancun Challenge)

• Nov. 27 vs. st. Louis

• Dec. 10 vs. Memphis (Atlanta)

• Dec. 18 at USC

• Dec. 21 at Washington

• Jan. 28 at West Virginia (Big 12/SEC Challenge)

• TBD at Appalachian State
