Hulu has released the first look at Meryl Streep in “Murder Only” Season 3 via a teaser that will be shown during Sunday night’s Academy Awards.
The 30-second spot introduces Streep as “a surprise like you’ve never seen before” before panning to the Oscar winner fumbling for a line during what looks like a table read. “Oh my god, it’s me!” Streep says between fits of nervous laughter. “Oh, I’m sorry. It’s me, isn’t it.’
Only Murders in the Building follows three strangers—Charles, Oliver, and Mabel (Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez)—who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves drawn into one. After a suspicious death in their exclusive Upper Westside apartment building, the trio go on a hunt with accurate knowledge of true crimes to find the killer and ultimately uncover the truth. As they record their own podcast to document the case, the three unravel the complex mysteries of the building that stretch back into the past.
The third season begins with the trio working to find out who killed Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd). In the Season 2 finale, which aired last August, viewers witnessed Glenroy’s death on stage while performing in a Broadway play with Charles.
Streep announced the casting choice in January via an Instagram video posted via Gomez’s account. She is credited with appearing in a recurring role.
Only Murders in the Building is created by authors and writers Martin and John Hoffman (Grace and Frankie, Wanted). Martin and Hoffman serve as executive producers along with Short, Gomez, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. The series is produced by 20th Television.
