REXBURG — Local restaurant Crispy Cones is poised to take the dessert industry by storm with its unique take on the ice cream cone.
If you haven’t tried it yet, a crispy cone is a fresh dough cone that’s grilled grill-style and covered in cinnamon and sugar. It can be filled with chocolate with hazelnuts or cookie butter or delicious soft ice cream. Owners Caitlin and Jeremy Carlson of Rexburg believe the crispy crunchy cones (a local favorite) have what it takes to be the next big thing in the dessert industry.
This wave of deliciousness may reach a larger audience sooner than they thought. The Carlsons recently had the opportunity to showcase their product on the popular TV show Shark Tank. They applied to be on the show in January 2022 and thought it would be an interesting opportunity.

“We never imagined this would happen,” Caitlin told EastIdahoNews.com. “We never thought it was something we could do.”
The main goal of participating in Shark Tank was simple: to get help to grow. In September 2022, they had a chance to do just that.
“It was surreal to be in front of these famous people,” Caitlin recalls.
Crispy Cones was originally established in 2018 as a grocery store. It quickly became a local favorite and has grown steadily over the years. There are now 11 Crispy Cones franchise locations in Arizona and Utah, as well as two corporate offices, one in Rexburg and one in Logan, Utah.
The Carlsons enjoy being a part of the Rexburg community. So much so that they are opening a new building in the Thornton area. This will serve as their new headquarters and warehouse in Rexburg.
“It was great growing up there and being offered a job,” Caitlin said.
The Carlsons will share their Shark Tank experience with the world this Friday at 7pm on ABC.
