Ready for Hollywood’s biggest night? The 2023 Oscars will take place tonight, March 12, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The anticipation for the 95th Academy Awards isn’t just for the ceremony itself, of course, but also for the pre-show red carpet proceedings, where celebrities show up dressed in brand-new attire. Fun fact for you: the red carpet will actually be champagne this year! Here’s some info on the Oscars 2023 red carpet and how to watch or stream it, whether you have cable or not.

When does the 2023 Oscars red carpet start? What channel is the Oscars red carpet on?

ABC News will begin its special Oscar pre-show coverage with “On The Red Carpet Live: Countdown to Oscars 95” on Sunday, March 12 at 1 p.m. EDT / 10 a.m. PDT. (Note that the clocks are put forward this Sunday due to daylight saving time!) You can catch coverage on ABC, which is available on all cable and satellite plans. You can also catch it on streaming providers like YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, and more – you can read more about them in our guide on how to watch the Oscars.

The E! will air its own red carpet coverage titled “E! Live from the Red Carpet” beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT/11:00 a.m. PDT. However, it is not available for free; you’ll need to subscribe to a cable or pay-TV provider like YouTube TV and Hulu Plus Live TV to watch it — more details below.

Why isn’t the carpet red at the Oscars?

For the first time, the Oscars 2023 carpet will not be red. Instead, it will be the color of champagne. The organizers wanted to “reimagine” the event this year with a different vibe; they liked the champagne because it’s a soft, soothing color that wouldn’t clash with an orange tent pitched for attendees.

Can I watch the Oscars red carpet for free?

Luckily, you can follow ABC Red Carpet’s pre-show coverage live on the ABC News website with no login required.
