St. Joe’s Amp teases a huge concert coming to Syracuse in 2023

Man! I feel like there’s a huge concert coming to the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview in 2023.

The official social media pages for St. Joe’s Amp are hinting at a major announcement for the Syracuse venue on Friday.

“Shania fans will be waking up dreaming tomorrow,” @stjosephsamp said on Instagram Thursday, with a photo of country superstar Shania Twain.

Twain has not announced a 2023 tour, but did confirm earlier this week that she’ll be performing in Nashville next summer with Kelsea Ballerini and “My Truck” singer Breland. She also released a new song last month, “Waking Up Dreaming,” and is expected to soon release her first album in more than five years, further suggesting a tour is coming.

It also looks likely that Syracuse would be the only Upstate New York stop on Twain’s tour, as other Live Nation amphitheaters like Darien Lake, CMAC, SPAC and Bethel Woods are not teasing similar announcements.

Twain is one of the best-selling artists of all time, selling more than 100 million records including 1997’s “Come On Over,” the best-selling country album of all time with more than 40 million copies sold. The Grammy-winning singer’s hits include “Any Man of Mine,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” “You’re Still the One,” “Forever and for Always,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “From This Moment On.”

Just one concert is currently scheduled at St. Joe’s Amp in Syracuse next summer: Matchbox Twenty on July 29. The Rob Thomas-led band was originally set to perform in 2020, but delayed their tour multiple times due to Covid-19 concerns.

Only a small number of other 2023 concerts have been announced to date in Upstate New York, including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (March 13 at MVP Arena in Albany and March 23 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo); Journey (March 16 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo); Blake Shelton (March 25 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo); and The Avett Brothers (May 20 at Beak & Skiff in Lafayette).
