pAfrican rapper Costa Titchdied on stage while performing on Saturday night at a music festival in Johannesburg. The musician was only 28 years old. The news was confirmed by the artist’s family.
In the hard to see video, the rapper first collapses on stage. Then gets up and continues rapping. Only to fall off the stage where he receives medical attention.
The tragedy has shaken up South African music community. The cause of death has not yet been determined. His death follows that of the artist AKAwho died after being shot on 10 February in Durban.
Costa Titch’s death was confirmed by his family
Costa Titch’s family issued a heartfelt statement to the rapper’s fans through his social media accounts.
“It is with deep pain that we have to acknowledge his passing at this time,” they wrote on IG.
“Death has tragically knocked on our door and robbed us of our beloved son, brother and grandson Constantinos Tsobanoglou whom South Africa had come to love and idolize under his stage name Costa Titch,” the post read.
“We are grateful to the emergency responders and all those present during his last hours on this earth. As a family we are facing a difficult time as we try to understand what has happened to us and pray for time. and space to gather”, it continued.
The family then thanked their fans for the support shown following the tragedy: “The Tsobanoglou family thank you for the love and support you have given our son and may you continue to lift him up, even in spirit.”
