X-Men’s Kid Omega returns with a radically different look

Quentin Quire/Kid Omega returns to X-Force with a radical transformation as the character has now become an old man.

CBR can exclusively debut Joshua Cassara’s cover art and solicitation information for Marvel’s X-Force #41 by writer Benjamin Percy and artist Paul David. The issue will see the return of Kid Omega, who mysteriously vanished from existence in 2022’s X-Force #29 (by Percy, Robert Gill, Guru-eFX and VC’s Joe Caramagna); however, the character has aged since he was last seen, as Quentin is now an older man.

X-Force: What happened to Kid Omega?

“When we last saw Kid Omega – over a year ago now – he had sacrificed himself to save his fellow mutants from the threat of Cerebrax (a sentient form of Cerebro that devoured minds and powers),” Percy said. “He disappeared. Completely. All traces of him were lost from the cradles. And we were left to wonder: was he dead or…? It turns out that ‘or…’ is the answer. And he has been gone much longer than a year, as the long beard and bald head and bent back reveal. Quentin Quire has always put Kid in Kid Omega: he’s selfish, immature, prone to tantrums. But he’s also deeply insecure and unable to to process the trauma he’s endured or use the powers he’s been gifted with. But Old Man Omega might be a different story. He’s been on a mission—a mission spanning centuries—and he’s about to enlist X-Force in the fight in what may be the wildest, weirdest story I’ve written: ‘The Ghost Calendars,’ the perfect starting point for new readers.”

IN X-Force #29, Quentin joined a number of other characters such as Domino, Omega Red, and Wolverine in the fight against Cerebrax after the entity became sentient and began killing mutants on Krakoa. Kid Omega delivered a powerful blast that ultimately defeated the enemy; but while the effort proved successful, Quentin was nowhere to be seen after the explosion. “He’s gone,” Sage said, which meant he couldn’t be brought back with the island’s resurrection protocols. “All of him. He’s wiped from all the Cerebro cradles. It’s like he was never there.”

X-Force #41 is out June 21, 2023 from Marvel.
