Shazam! The star looks to spoil Aquaman 2’s Wonder Woman Cameo

Shazam! Wrath of the Gods Star Jack Dylan Grazer may have spoiled the appearance of a major Justice Leaguer in the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.


Grazer, who plays Shazamily’s Freddy Freeman in the DC Universe, sat down with co-star Asher Angel for a Fandom Entertainment interview (via YouTube) where he discussed actor Gal Gadot making a cameo as Wonder Woman in Wrath of the Gods. Grazer shared her experience on set, saying, “Gal Gadot flew in from London that day and she was like ‘are you filming Shazam! movie?'” After describing Gadot as “mystique” and comparing her to a mermaid, Grazer recalled Gadot saying, “You guys Shazam! 2. I just got off the set Aquaman. It is very good to see you.”

After the DCU movies respectively Shazam! (2019) and Aquaman (2018), the sequels Shazam! Wrath of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom started shooting in mid-2021 around the same time, and both will be released in 2023. While Gadot may have merely visited the set of The lost kingdom on his way to film her Wrath of the Gods cameo, another possibility is that she also shot scenes for Aquaman successor. Grazer noticed this when Gadot arrived on set for her Wrath of the Gods cameo, she was already in her Woman Woman costume after she “just came off the set of Aquaman.”


DC just can’t keep Wonder Woman Cameos under Wraps

If Gadot appears in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it will be the third DCU film in 2023 to be spoiled with its Wonder Woman cameo before release. A week before Wrath of the Gods hit theaters, promos for the film showed Wonder Woman making an appearance, prompting director David F. Sandberg to issue a warning to fans who wanted to “go in fresh.” As for The lightningreleases months in between Wrath of the Gods and The lost kingdom, Funko POP! figures revealed for the film reveal that it also features Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman’s DCU future is uncertain

What has not been confirmed at the time of writing, however, is whether Gadot’s Wonder Woman has a long-term future in the DCU. Following the DC Studios shakeup that placed James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-CEOs, the only Wonder Woman-related project has been announced as part of the duo’s plans. the lost paradise, a prequel series exploring Themyscira, AKA “Paradise Island”, the home of Wonder Woman. Responding to a rumor that Gadot had been removed from the DCU in December 2022, Gunn said, “I’m not sure where you get that we ‘started’ Gal.” He has since hinted that Wonder Woman will appear in the DCU’s new chapter, “Gods and Monsters,” which will appear sooner rather than later.

Shazam! Wrath of the Gods now playing in cinemas. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be released on December 25, 2023.
