‘Shazam 2’ Debuts Bad Box Office on 2nd Anniversary of Snyder Cut

James Gunn‘s new DCU has yet to see the light of day — and the firing of the old guard is proving to be brutal … both at the box office and on Twitter where it’s all about Zack Snyder all day.

First, there’s Shazam 2 — which opened in theaters this weekend and is already off to a rocky start with a $30 million domestic opening … one of the worst for any DC movie. don’t forget Zachary LevyThe future hangs in the balance in Gunn’s world … and you have to imagine that his movie here (part of the former DCEU) bombing doesn’t bode well.

There could be growing pains for Gunn and co. before hitting the actual new slate that will begin two years later with “Superman: Legacy.” DC has yet to release “Aquaman 2” and “The Flash” … both of which were completed before Gunn came on screen.

Time will tell how these will turn out, but for now … ‘Shazam 2’ does not deliver. Meanwhile, Snyder fans are also celebrating two year anniversary his “Justice League” movie — the “Snyder Cut” as it’s known. And yes … they are once again crying out for more ZS superhero content.

There are several “Snyders”. tendencies Goes to work on the bird program, including people calling Warner Bros release their rights Zach’s work to Netflix … where he is now making other films. Reason… they want their boy to continue the “Snyderverse” with all the former actors/characters. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoaand so on.

Complicating matters further is Zach himself… just this week mocked the announcement — courtesy of one of his great DCEU villains, Darkseid. It’s not clear what it is … but it’s been ablaze with speculation on the internet – it looks like ZS isn’t really going away either.

And one last Zack note — where someone, again, is having fun in the glory days — came from BA himself … who sings the director’s praises on a new song. THR profile this week.

Bottom line … the DCEU has left some pretty big shoes to fill, and those shoes continue to grow as everyone waits for Gunn and Peter Safranthe realization of his vision.

Starting from scratch, as it turns out, is a long and tedious process. There’s a lot to clear out of the garage, and not everyone wants the leftovers at a sale … WBD finds out now.

A truly super-sized headache.
