Grab a tote bag and start shopping. Farmers markets are open in Birmingham, with vendors selling fresh produce, homemade baked goods, flowers, herbs, artworks and more. The markets are social centers, as well, as folks gather to browse and chat, mix and mingle. Admission is free to all the markets listed here, and you’ll find a variety of goods at each one.
ALABAMA FARMERS MARKET
What you’ll find: Vendors selling apples, cucumbers, blueberries, broccoli, squash, zucchini, eggplant, herbs and other produce in season. Flea market, food trucks, vendors selling jams, jellies, honey and other items.
When: Daily throughout the year, open 24 hours, most vendors available 5 am-8 pm

WEST HOMEWOOD FARMERS MARKET
What you’ll find: Vendors selling fruits, vegetables, arts and crafts. Food trucks, live music.
When: Tuesdays, 5 pm-8 pm during July and first week of August.

VESTAVIA HILLS FARMERS MARKET
What: Vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, casseroles, honey, seafood, cakes, pies, bread, homemade dog treats, T-shirts, popcorn, snow cones, arts and crafts, and more.
Good to know: Part of the proceeds from sales benefit food pantry at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church.
When: Wednesdays, 10 am-1 pm during the summer.

THE MARKET AT PEPPER PLACE
